Going up there for a game on the 27th and looking for somewhere that is good and totally local, somewhere that would give a good taste of Pittsburgh. (can't find it anywhere else).|||get a philly cheese steak!!!!|||A philly cheese steak is NOT a representative of food local to Pittsburgh only. We're not even famous for them, why suggest that?? The other answers below are by far the best!

|||Pramanti Brothers. or go to a deli and get a chipped ham sandwich (cant get chipped ham anywhere but pittsburgh) i think|||Pemanti Bros!|||Primantti Bros. is the typical restraunt/food associated with Pittsburgh. It's what they always show clips of them making on Sunday Night Football. (Grill fried lunch meat, provalone cheese, tomato, french fries, sweet vinegar colelsaw all on two huge slices of Mancini's italian bread). Great stuff, put the Red Devil Hotsauce on it.

Islays Chipped Ham Sandwiches are very Pittsburgh too. You can't get that stuff anywhere outside of Pittsburgh. My friends came back in from DC and were complaining they can't get Islay's chipped ham down there. It makes the best Ham BBQ too. Take some home with you.

Perogies are pretty Pittsburgh, Grill 36 serves them as a starter, there available at a lot of local restraunts too.

Pittsburgh Steak or Chicken Salads are topped with french fries and ranch dressing.

Sarris Chocolates are very very good, especially their chocolate covered pretzles. You can get those at Giant Eagle and some gift shops.

The Original Hotdog Shop (The Dirty "O" as it's referred to) in Oakland had homemade Hotdogs that were excellent, but I think that closed down.

lol it's all real heavy and fatty foods, wonder why Pittsburgh has a weight problem? ;) A lot of the chains have pushed out the local small restraunts lately, so it's tough to rattle off some things that are "just pittsburgh" anymore. Primantti's is probably the most unique followed by Islays.
