Im currently a junior in high school and plan to major in journalism, and i'd like to go to college in Pittsburgh.|||Journalism is dying. Many schools will be closed or curtailed by the time you're ready to declare a Major.

"Journalism will never die because other people depend on them for current events. Without journalists and the reporters, there would have been NO way for a person in California to have known about the oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico (just an example)"

Sigh... When I say Journalism is dying, that doesn't mean I happy about it. Journalists/Newspapers are essential to an informed electorate. The problem is that no newspaper can pay for extensive investigate journalism any more. The business model has broken down 鈥?there is not enough revenue. No new business model is on the horizon to save Journalism. Nobody has figured out how to make Internet Journalism pay salaries...|||well, Duquesne University offers it and its in Pittsburgh. Penn State University Park and Temple University offers it as well. Although, from what I've heard, Syracuse, University of Southern California, Northwestern University, are the best for this major.

I also recommend looking at: American University in D.C, Boston University is supposedly really good as well, Auburn, University of Missouri at Columbia, Indiana University -- Bloomington, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, NYU, University of Maryland at College Park, Arizona State, University of Arizona, San Diego State, San Francisco State, University of Colorado at Boulder, UConn, University of Florida, University of Georgia, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Marquette University, University of Oregon, University of Texas at Austin, Baylor University, University of Iowa, University of Kansas, University of Kentucky, Michigan State, University of Minnesota -- Twin Cities, University of Wisconsin at Madison, University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee, and University of Southern Mississippi because if you apply to more schools, it will help your chances of getting into a school a lot more. I also recommend applying to all these, including the top schools like Syracuse, Northwestern, USC and Boston University because its worth a shot at these "brand name" journalism schools.
