I am planning on being in the Pittsburgh area and wondered what there is to do that is fun there. It will be me, my wife, and our 1 year old child.|||Assuming you are referring to Pittsburgh, PA (there is a Pittsburgh, CA), you can:
* See if the Gateway Clipper fleet is running. That's a winner you can go on a casual, slow family boatride. But wear some warm clothes. The tour boats have inside sections so this can still work out okay. Look them up under the "Gateway Clipper Fleet" on the net.
* Take an incline ride up to Mt. Washington and visit the overlook. Bring your camera. The incline is a blast.
* The Pittsburgh Science Center should be open.
* If you have a ride, you could go to South Park (in the South Hills) and visit the Game Preserve. It is free, and there are fenced in buffalo there you could show your little one. Park is on the web. Nice to drive through. Again it is free.
* The Aviary on the North Side. Should have listed this one higher. Big family attraction. All kinds of exotic birds and shows. Not real expensive. Easy access from town. Your child will be able to offer food to the birds in one of the areas.
* The Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium. Petting zoo is available if it is open.
