The last time the Pittsburgh Pirates had a winning season was in 1992. Likewise, for the Orioles it was 1997. Which team do you think will produce a winning season before the other?|||I am biased, but I do feel that objectively I look at the Orioles and believe that they will improve soon. I honestly believe that the Orioles needed a proven winner (Buck Showalter) that isn't going to be pushed around and will cut the garbage. We are in a tough division. The Rays, Sox, Yanks, and even the Jays had winning records. That being said I think Buck will not tolerate, guys who give games away, and that has been the Orioles problem. I am also hoping this isn't a wish.|||Simple; it's all about money in MLB. Both clubs have some young talent. The question is, which team will more likely be able to afford to keep their talent as they approach impending fee agency? Answer - the Orioles.

Last season, the Pirates ranked dead last in team payroll at a shade under 35 million. The O's were closer to the middle of the pack at #17 with a payroll of 81.6 million. Regardless of what you think of Peter Angelos, I'm guessing that if he thought the Orioles were very close to having a REAL contending team he would kick in some more $$$ to see it through. Not Yankee, Red Sox or Phils money perhaps, but enough. I don't think that theres a snowballs chance of a scenario like that EVER happening in Pittsburgh unless they are purchased and run by some very motivated & very deep pockets committed to bringing a winner to Pittsburgh.|||Orioles easily...they still have the fans coming out to be able to afford some guys, and they have a lot of young talent ( Jones, Markakis, Weiters) and they have a great manager. They just need some good starting pitchers, but they are many years away.

The Pirates have no future in site. Yea they have alvarez and mccutchen but not much else. And in a few years when those guys are free agents, the pirates won't be able to afford them because they don't sell any tickets. Plus the pirates owner is pathetic and never gives them a chance to win by they way he manages his club

Both teams are far away from a winning season, but pittsburgh should just move to another city their fans are a joke|||Baltimore Orioles. The only thing that the Pirates owner's care about is how much money they make, they really shouldn't care less about how the team is. That's why they've traded all their star players. At least Baltimore tries to be good.|||I wanna say the Orioles. Under Showalter, they can have a winning season. And I do use that term loosely. It doesn't matter if they are in the east, they have the west and the central too.|||Pittsburgh, in 3-5 more years..

Baltimore in 6-10 years :)|||the pirates. they hav alvarez who will be a star n mccutchen already is. Jose tabata is a upcoming star to. Pittsburgh has a better fab base too|||i think the Orioles young players are a little more developed at this point and closer to competing, so i will go with them. plus, they have a great manager.|||pirates... no way the orioles can do it with the yankees, red sox, and rays in the same division|||pittsburgh pirates!|||orioles first.|||Orioles they just got a new coch an that's a huge up
