My fiancee and I are planning on staying in a hotel in downtown Pittsburgh after our wedding, because its convienent and we're already doing something else for our main honeymoon.
What hotel is nice, but cheap and what else can we do, considering it will be late in the evening? BESIDES SEX haha|||Consider staying at the Sheraton in Station Square. Rooms are around $120 a night, and the hotel is located in a fantastic area. Station Square has so much stuff to do, especially at night.
The Sheraton is right next to a restaurant called The Melting Pot. After 9 PM, they have a special for $38 per couple. You get a cheese fondue, chocolate fondue and a bottle of wine. I don't know if you're familiar w/the restaurant but you have your own little stove top on your table, and you cook your own food. The late night special is awesome, and romantic.
If you are staying on a Saturday night, you have to wake up Sunday morning and get brunch at the Grand Concourse. It's the best breakfast buffet in the world. They have every kind of food you could ever imagine for breakfast, along with a donut maker & banana's foster made fresh. It almost feels like a dessert bar. It's delicious.
In the evening, besides The Melting Pot, there's also a Buca, a Hardrock Cafe, frequent concerts at the Ampitheater, water shows outside by the river in Bessemer Court, shopping in the Station Square Mall, and more. It's fun having a few drinks at 5ive Bar, which is right by the hotel, part of the mall. If it's warm, you can sit outside & have a drink in the lounge area. It's a fun place!
That's just my recommendation. In the middle of the city, there are other hotels, but less to do. Station Square is the place to be in Pittsburgh. =-)
