Pittsburgh got robbed; but both players will be on the Yankee's Bench. Jose will start in outfield in 2 years and Ross should be a starter by then also, doubt Yankees will even have Nady or Marte by then. Still love Nady as a backup.|||How can you say the Pirates got robbed when you admit that both Nady & Marte will be role-players? Ohlendorf will be put into the Bucs' rotation immediately, since the staff is injury riddled and inconsistent. And you also say Jose will be a starter for the Pirates in 2 years! Is that getting robbed? Let's face it, the Bucs are going nowhere this year and are building for the future and the Yankees want to win now. No way of knowing who got the best of this trade for several years because of the young players involved....|||why would nady be on the bench? they acquired him for a reason....and Marte is a good reliever(better than most yankees)|||the yanks got the best of it, maybe like 3 years from now it could be different but I doubt it. Nady is a great fit into the yankee lineup, he makes their lineup the best in the AL east, and Marte makes the bullpen a lot better because he can pitch well against both righties and lefties, and is a young arm the yanks can resign and have for years to come. Nady doesn't have to play outfield in the upcoming years if he stays as a yankee, he can play DH or move to 1st(maybe who knows) or be a corner outfielder when abreu or damon leave or retire.|||The Yankees were buying and Pittsburgh was selling. Neither of which should come as a surprise to anyone ever. This is a classic example of the historically successful Yankees, who epitomize big market baseball, buying up the best players in baseball as they enter their primes.
Pittsbugh's new prospects will likely be dealt or walk as Free Agents if they make a successful transition to the big leagues because the Buccos' front office has never been able to retain talent, largely for financial reasons.|||I don't know the prospects, but they should be substantial. Why else would the Pirates make the trade?
For the Yankees, they got what they needed. Nady is a solid player they eill have at least this year and next and they got lefty relief. They are still a little light in the starter department right now.|||i think this trade works out well for both sides...the yankees get a righthanded bat they can insert in the lineup and a lefty to put in the pen, and the pirates get prospects including a real gem in tabata, and lord knows the pirates can only look to their future|||The Pirates have been selling for the last 20 years, are Pirates fans tired of the giveaways and giveups the Pirates are pulling?!?!?!?|||Nady will probably serve as the starting left fielder, at least for the first few games. Much better option then Gardner, and with Damon at DH, he'll be in the lineup.|||The Yankees gave up good prospects but for the immediate impact the Yankees got the better trade they now have a lefty relief pitcher to handle lefty batters. And a good hitter with Nady,|||Yankees for now because they have 2 established players but the Pirates may have a chance to win if their prospects work out but it is a gambl so we will have to wait and see. The Pirates would have probably lost Nady to free agency because of the low payroll so maybe it might be a good move
