I'm doing an article on sports figures in Pittsburgh. On the bad role-models I only have Roethlistberger. ON the good role-model side I have Sidney Crosby, Ward, and Palamalu. Is there anyone else you can think of?|||If you go old school Roberto Clemente is considered one of the most famous sports role models (not only in the 'Burgh) and really, a true hero.

Also Mario Lemieux is considered a role model because even though he's Canadian he's devoted his postPenguin life to the Penguins, becoming an owner in order to keep them in Pittsburgh. He had cancer and really terrible back trouble during his playing career and always came back to play. Read up on him; I think you'll find alot there you can use.

Edit: Ward is NOT known as a good role model by people in the know in Pittsburgh.|||Do they have to be current players? Roberto Clemente was one of the greatest role models Pittsburgh ever had:

EDIT:

Ralph Kiner:

The man only played for seven years, most of them with Pittsburgh, and yet still made the Hall Of Fame. A nice, decent man, really old school.|||Hines Ward is not a good role model. He is a dirty player, youtube him and some of the things he has done, please take him off of your good role model list.|||Ward and Clemente (Palamalu maybe)|||he's retired in hockey, but you could put Mario Lemuix in there
