My family and I might move to Pittsburgh from So. California? Any insight? I have two young sons (younger than 3) and my husband and I are fairly young, younger than 30. I thought age might help indicate whether we'd enjoy the city or not. I'd really miss my family in California, but my husband and sons are my family too, so I'd have to go for our best interest. What are the opinions of Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas?|||Pittsburgh is a pretty nice place. There is a lot for a family to do there. Great parks, zoos, museums... just a great area of the country.
Plus, if you drive 30 minutes from the city you can be all the way out in the country. It is great. I live in PA for the first 23 years of my life and would recommend it.|||Stick to living near the airport. The suburbs are beautiful here if you stay out of the ghetto ones closer to the city. Even farther away you're still very close to the city. We have great museums, a great zoo, amusement park, lots to do all year round. I highly recommend raising a family here.

|||there are a few nice areas in PIttsburgh, however you should keep in mind that Pittsburgh had the highest un-solved murder rate in the country in 2005. Most of the city is border line poverty stricken. I've lived in Braddock my whole life and I wouldn't suggest moving here if violence and crime scares you.|||I was born and raised in pittsburgh, I am 22 and have a3 year and one on the way. Theres lots to here for children and younger adults.Mount Washington is a nice place, there is a incline that goes up and down the mountain side.
